About

You can think of a Prefab Portfolio like a prefab house. Much of it has been pre-built and just needs to be put together. When first installed, the framework of the Prefab Portfolio is empty. You simply add your text, images, videos and music to build it out.

Prefab Portfolio is a project from Foldi, a small design studio in Brooklyn, New York. After building my online portfolio, a few friends asked if they could use the format for their own portfolios. The almost invisible format places emphasis on the creative work while providing substantial functionality and cross-platform support. Now anyone that wants to easily organize his or her work online can use a Prefab Portfolio.

Demo

This demo contains the default portfolio pages:

The Prefab Portfolio requires that you use Flickr and Vimeo to manage any image, video or music assets. This is actually a benefit over hosting your own assets because it gets your work further distributed in the online world. But if you're shy, both services allow you to keep your work private on their sites and only appear in your Portfolio.

Please contact us to order your very own Prefab Portfolio.

Requirements

Installing a Prefab Portfolio requires that you own a domain (ie. www.yourdomain.com) and host it with a service that provides the following:

Because the Portfolio and the admin section need to interact with your MySql database, you will need to know the following before you install:

You can get all this information from your host. But if this all sounds way too techy and you need some help, just contact us with any questions.

Cross-platform support and other geeky stuff

Your Portfolio will work the same on all modern browsers including Internet Explorer 5 and up. This is important because you don't want any issues like crashing browsers to distract from your work. And if anyone asks, the portfolio also makes use of the following technologies:

If you don't what these things are, don't worry. They are topics often discussed at nerd parties in between Dr. Mario levels. But if you find yourself at a nerd party and hear someone drop 'AJAX' in the conversation, tell them your Portfolio rocks AJAX and that they should go check it out.
